The last one month has been a whirlwind of events, excitement and disappointment. I was hoping that this new site will be up and running 3 weeks ago, as I had so much to share with all of you but alas, few wrong steps in choosing wrong web designer meant that the work was not done on time. Here I am still fiddling on my own with the ‘foreign’ codes, but in my new home! I must also thank my lovely friend Lail, whom in spite of being with her family during last Thanksgiving weekend, burnt the midnight oil and helped me out with the website. Lail, your friendship means a lot to me
It is a big move for me, as I was getting comfy using Blogger as my platform. I hope this new site will serve all of you better though, as now we have few features to engage you in, either in baking or photography. So let me take you around and share with you what’s new here.
This is your platform. As my appreciation for your readership for last 2 years and a bit, I have now created a special section where you can submit your photo ( 250×250 px) with link to your blog post url. The idea is to bring back traffic to your sites too, so we can all grow as community of healthy food bloggers! I will choose a theme every month and you can post old or new recipe from your collection, as many as you want, and I will put them up in the gallery within 48 hours of receiving your submission.
Submission page is here. It is ‘Bake and Cook’ on the header.
So the theme for this month: HOLIDAY BAKING.
And you might also want to ask, what is it in it for you, apart from the traffic?
I have also decided to make it extra special this month, with a random blogger being chosen to receive a small token of appreciation from me, this month will be a set of heart shape silicone cups. Not just any cups, but my new line of bakeware. *cough*
You heard me right! Yippee!
Those of you who have visited my Facebook page have known about this already, but here I am sharing this formally with all of you. I have now launched a small range of silicone bakeware, designed by yours truly to make baking more fun. There is muffin cups, eclair mould, chocolate mould, financier, madeleine mould and the most exciting one for me, the ‘Ultimate Pastry Set’ which consists of a double sided macaron / whoopie pie mat, silicone pastry bag, 6 stainless steel nozzles for cake decorating and a small recipe booklet, all encased in a luxury box!
I am also in the midst of setting up a proper online shop, which should be ready by end of this week. As of now, we are accepting Paypal and Visa gateway payment in secure server. Due to geographic factor, I can only accommodate orders in Malaysia and Singapore but if you are ordering in bulk outside these areas, please feel free to drop me a line.
Apart from this shop, the products are also available in TOTT store Singapore, the largest baking store in the island. So if you are one who is not keen on ‘online shopping’, then head over to TOTT as the products will be hitting the shelves by end of this week!
Now back to my usual monthly fare, my column on BBC Good Food Asia this month is also overdosed with the silicone bakeware, as I share recipes all baked using the bakeware. I realised that a lot of you outside Asia territory do not get access to the magazine, and previously I was more than happy to provide the pdf excerpt for those who emailed me. But now, I have a better solution for all of us.
The pdf version of my monthly column will be available for subscribers of this website. I will automatically send you the pdf of the recipes every month straight to your inbox! The pdf will be the exact print copy, which is courtesy of my BBC GF Asia team. If you live in Singapore, Malaysia or Thailand, go grab yourself a copy of the December issue available at any bookstore and newsstands, as 3 lucky readers will win The Cooking Doctor complete bakeware set!
This month, let’s indulge in some french pastries, cuppies, chocolates and holiday baking, shall we?
We are still experiencing some domain error in some parts of the world but I hope I can iron all that very soon, and get the site up and running like before. And if you can see the website with no problem, start submitting your holiday bakes until 31s December 2013. Who knows, you may be the lucky winner!
I hope you will all continue your immense support to me, and can’t wait to get you on board the subscribers list. I hope this is my little way of sharing my writing and recipes exclusively for you, by sharing my BBC column recipes with you.
Let me pen off with Strawberry Financier recipe, which is one of the many that I wrote for BBC this month.
