Quinoa Turkey Meatballs

After the decadent sugar high last weekend, it is time to do a quick health-check. That’s how I balance things, indulge on the sweets then back to healthy snacks and flavourful suppers for the week! Then I have another confession to make. I really am not a big fan of quinoa on its own, no matter how much I tried to cook it in place of rice, the latter is always the winner in our house, and I suppose I speak for a lot of other Asian homes..

But quinoa mixed with turkey mince, paprika and the piquant sweet red onions, oh yes, now ¬†we are talking. Perhaps because you would never know that there is quinoa in these morsels of turkey meatballs, or maybe because the complex flavours from the coriander leaves and paprika brings the spicy kick to an otherwise bland taste, I don’t know what’s the secret but these ‘meatballs’ were very delicious. . And just like any other good recipes which were discovered by chance, those ¬†quinoa turkey meatballs were actually the results of leftovers that I just didn’t want to throw away.

For those unsure on how to cook quinoa, you can refer to my post here. I cooked the quinoa beforehand in the rice cooker, but you can also cook it on the stove and it takes literally just few minutes. Instead of shallow frying the meatballs, I used Philips Airfryer so they were ‘fried’ in literally just a teaspoon of canola oil sprinkles. You can go a step further and use the meatballs to prepare this delicious kofte curry, but you can also munch happily on their own, knowing fully well that your ticker is being pampered :-)

Wow you used the Philips AirFrier!!! My hubby works for Philips and he told me about this product and I was interested in it. The meatball looks perfect too. I too have some quinoa sitting in my refrigerator, I should use them pretty quick. This definitely will be a winner recipe. Thanks for sharing!!
