Fabulous Food Fotography Friday: Champagne Grapes

A while back, I started a weekly event called Fabulous Food Fotography Friday, an exercise for me to improve my photography skills, and also an event for us photography lovers to share our best shot of the week in the round-up. You may know by now how terrible I am at promoting the blog, and as a result the event just had to be abandoned..!

Well that is not to say that I have stopped my photography exercises. In between day job and adhoc photoshoot assignments, every time I see something that tickles my fancy, I'd take a snap of it and note the manual setting that I like about the picture. Along the way, I think those little exercises have improved my phtography, far from perfect but the progress is there.

As a lot of you have asked about photography, and emailed about styling tips, I have now updatted the 'photography' page on the main header or click here.

FFF Round-up and a tour around the blog

Hello everyone!

I think I need to sharpen my marketing skill, as despite my numerous attempts to engage with fellow bloggers, this new Photography event is only growing at such a snail pace..oh well, that is a good start. Last week see few entries for this weekly event, and here's the round-up:

Sawsan of Chef in disguise sent in her fab entry of The Walnut Lesson. Check out her beautiful analogy of the walnuts, and how true it is to our lives!

 

Neha, another dentist (!) turned homemaker, From My Heart, presented her lovely Brownies and look how moist and beautiful they are!

Last but not least, my loyal fan and my good friend in real life, Suhaina of My Singapore Kitchen wow'ed us with her perfectly decorated Angry Bird cake..I am well impressed that she did this all without even attending a single decorating class!

 

As per usual, this Friday will be another food fotography Friday, so hoping to see your entries too, keep them coming and we shall all learn a thing or two about food photography.

On different note, I have finally updated the blog with a new face, new template and hopefully a better indexed pages so you can browse through the archives for some delicious recipes. Hopefully I will be able to add something medical, health guide maybe? If time permits, that is.

Fabulous Food Fotography Friday: Celebrating Autumn

Autumn is our season of celebration.

Couscous was born on one bright sunny day of autumn. Two years on, she is truly the epitome of all things autumn with vibrance of end of summer. Subdued at times, chirpy like a beautiful bird, and bouncing with joy with her bouncy, curly dark mahogany hair.

Above all, truest to her seasonal traits, Couscous loves apples. All kinds of apples, but red is her favourite.

 

Here I am capturing the mood of the season, with lots of good memories, living in the presence and cherishing all things autumn. I am slightly late for my own event (!), but hoping to see all your beautiful entries and captures of the week. How much butter have you used this week?

And if you are one of the make-everything-from-scratch aficionados, may I ask how much white butter have you churned from scratch this week?

Even though butter is always associated as 'bad fat', actually the real butter could be heart-healthy, a little knob of richness is always welcomed in our house. The Husband called this french butter as my standard bar of gold, as it is so much tastier in the bakes, but what a hole in the pocket! On top of his ritual romantic bouquet of flowers, he has now begun buying me this butter too for my weekly bakes, so I shall justify the health benefits in case if you think I am over indulging!

• Butter contains lauric acid, which is efefctive against candida or fungal infections
• contains anti-oxidants, Vitamin A, E and K so it is heart-healthy
• The saturated fat is also anti-carcinogenic
• Protects against joints calcification
• May promote fertility in women
• The cholesterol in real butter is good for the children's brain development
• Protects againsts gastrointestinal infections

Always, always get the real deal though, preferably organic and not those butter laden with preservatives. Bring it to a next level with cultured butter, which contains lactobacillus and good for the health.

In two days time, Ramadhan will be over and these simple beauty of fresh dates will be a rarity again. These raw dates are my husband's favourite. And on his request, a photo was shot and memories of Iftars are captured, until the next Ramadhan visits us once again.

When the world is all at odds
